Grade 5 Curriculum Update for the Week of June 1

Reading	Students will continue to read 40 minutes a day. Student can continue to work through their Fantasy series or start on a new book they have been waiting to read. Student should continue to log their reading on Biblionasium.
Writing	This week students are reviewing their understanding of parts of speech with a coloring challenge. Students also will start a Memory Book which is a five-day project. Pages are assigned each day.
Math	Students continue to work and consolidate their understanding of order of operations. There are many games that students can choose from and play alone or with a family member.
Science	Students will choose an element to research and learn more about.
Portuguese	PLA:  Finalização de tarefas. Ler e comentar o trabalho de outros colegas. Semana de leitura na plataforma Guten News. PAL: D.Nati: TED Talk on Flipgrid  PAL D. Dani: students will write about their routine PAL D. Marcela: students will review the highlights of the trimester
PE/Music/Art	PE: This week we will have our final LIVE PE CLASS. Stay tuned and let’s finish strong! Grade 5 Curriculum Update for Week of May 25

Reading	Final reading project, working on secondary source Fantasy series projects.  Monday- choose creative project, Tuesday- find evidence, Wednesday- rehearse, Thursday- present on Flipgrid, Friday- leave comments on book discussion group & classmates’ projects
Writing	Writing poetry or zines. This week is about creative writing and putting into use the tools and strategies you have been working on.
Math	Continued work with volume and introduction to order of operations.
Science	Science projects, matter & chemical changes.
Portuguese	PLA:  Finalização de tarefas atrasadas Leitura na plataforma Guten News PAL: This week, students will write about their routine in Portuguese. PAL: Students will review vocabulary and do reading assignments at Elefante Letrado.
PE/Music/Art	PE: You have a FlipGrid to answer until Thursday (May, 28) and we will have an unexpected Live Class on Tuesday (May, 26)! Art: Furniture design challenge Music: This week we are going to review everything we learned in the semester, using Kahoot.
